MOAH Limits in Food Supplements — EU Requirements for 2027 and 2030

Does a supplier’s certificate tell you whether your finished supplement batch will meet a future MOAH level? Start with the exact sample, category and analytical evidence, not just a number.

DIRECT ANSWER · VOTED DRAFT

10 mg/kg in the 2027 scenario; 5 mg/kg in the 2030 scenario.

The Commission’s Rev.10 draft Annex lists food supplements in category 5.5.11 with these staged levels. They are proposed requirements in this dated guide. A favourable committee vote is not formal adoption, publication or application. The sources checked here do not establish the final adopting act or Official Journal publication.

Do not interpret that boundary as “no current obligations”. The 13 May 2026 Joint Statement describes an interim Article 14 enforcement approach; current food-safety duties and the relevant authority’s implementation still need a separate review.

01 · EXACT CATEGORY

Food supplements have their own draft entry.

Draft category 5.5.11 — not an adopted maximum-level determination

Confirm the finished product’s category instead of importing a raw oil, herbal ingredient or composite-food threshold. MOAH and MOSH are different analytes. This preview does not load a MOSH supplement decision threshold; monitoring context is not a MOAH maximum level.

02 · FINISHED PRODUCT, NOT INGREDIENT ASSURANCE ALONE

What to collect for a batch review

  1. SKU, formulation version, production batch and exact sampled product/batch on the report.
  2. Ingredient supplier lots, facility/process records and relevant packaging or transport paths.
  3. Laboratory, report revision, analyte and carbon range; measured value, qualifier and unit.
  4. Method, matrix validation, LOQ, sampling evidence and accreditation scope.
  5. Reported measurement uncertainty, with its unit and interpretation; do not silently deduct an assumed percentage.
  6. The applicable source/category/version and a separate qualified review of the evidence.

Mineral-oil contamination can arise at different supply-chain stages. A clean ingredient certificate cannot by itself establish the result for the finished batch. Document receipt and user-declared accreditation are not authentication.

Worked example: 7.2 mg/kg

For an exactly matched supplement sample, 7.2 is numerically below 10 and above 5. That supports a 2027-versus-2030 planning comparison, not a current compliance verdict. Missing method evidence or inadequate LOQ remains an independent gap. A supplier-lot result or conflicting sample identity is withheld from the finished-batch comparison.

03 · STATUS IS NOT A CALENDAR GUESS

Track the legal steps independently.

  1. 13 May 2026: favourable SC PAFF vote on the maximum-level draft; a separate interim enforcement statement was issued.
  2. Commission catalogue and FAQ Rev.4: describe targeted October adoption. The FAQ is a Commission-services explanation which explicitly states that it has not been adopted or endorsed by the Commission.
  3. 23 October 2026 source check: this guide retains the voted-draft basis. No final act/publication is established here; check those originals before a current-law decision.
  4. 2027/2030: dates in the retained draft scenarios, not automatic rule activation.

Interim national implementation also matters. For example, NVWA publishes a Dutch enforcement policy with conditional measurement-uncertainty handling. That is not a universal EU/PL subtraction rule and is not implemented by this calculator.

MANUAL, BROWSER-ONLY PREPARATION

Compare the measurement and identify the evidence gaps.

Enter structured declarations against the retained draft scenarios. No document upload, automated report extraction, authenticated evidence, saved batch history or release decision is connected.
