Directive 2002/46/EC on food supplements
Permitted mineral category and source forms

EU + POLAND EVIDENCE PROFILE
A permitted mineral category where the chemical source controls ingredient eligibility and the finished product controls claim use.
IDENTITY BEFORE STATUS
CLAIMS
Use is conditional on the food qualifying at least as a source of magnesium. Verify the exact wording, amount, presentation and any restrictions in the current EU Register.
RESTRICTIONS
Confirm that the chemical source appears in the current Annex II to Directive 2002/46/EC.
For magnesium L-threonate, apply the Union-list identity, specifications, conditions of use and labelling requirements; do not generalise them to other sources.
A permitted source does not by itself validate the dose, label or health claim of the finished supplement.
POLISH NOTES
The Polish supplement rules were amended from 11 September 2025 to align the list of permitted chemical forms; verify the current consolidated Polish text for the selected source.
Retain the Polish label, daily portion and target-population review as a separate layer after confirming the EU source form.
